Sally Mar lives alone in Verath — a vast coastal city built for millions and now holding far fewer. She repairs broken technology and trades it for food. Her only companion is Bell, a white toy poodle.

Her only plan is to fix an old ship and reach the colony where her grandfather might still be waiting.
